“Working with my hands gives me a great sense of purpose on a very deep level. Maybe it’s linked to some primordial need to carve things out of wood. Maybe it’s the gemini in me that always needs to be working with his hands. Whatever the reason, I long for the inspiration to be creative in this hustle and bustle world whenever possible. This site showcases some of the results of these moments of inspiration. Thank you for joining me”.

The King and I  06’

KATools award 06’

It wasn’t long after this that I purchased my first didgeridoo and began playing it over my mother’s body before and during her liver transplant. Next I would get requests to play for my local church and over a short period of time many of my friends were encouraging me to give classes on playing the instrument. It was after a 2 year journey traveling across the United States learning various ways and techniques on how to play and make the didgeridoo that I met my didgmates, Darren Liebman and Jeremy Lembo in Tampa, Florida. In 2003 we created the Didg Revolution, a didgeridoo player collective led by Darren Liebman.

In 2004 Darren created an Edu-tainment program called Didgeridoo Down Under or DDU for short, a high-energy, Australia-themed presentation that combines music, education, motivation, and character building. Since 2005 I have performed DDU in over 12 states at schools, colleges, camps, libraries, museums, festivals, parties and corporate events. Thanks to Mr. Liebman, DDU has become my full time vocation and I continue to present the program over 250 times a year.

The KATools connection - In early 2006 I met Arthur Aveling, founder of King Arthur’s Tools. In December 06’ I gained recognition for developing an efficient method of making didgeridoos using KATools and was awarded “Knighthood,” and a place at the round table of King Arthur’s Tools. With KATools I have given many  “Make and Play” Didgeridoo Workshops and continue to offer this unique experience for those looking for a more ‘hands on’ approach to the instrument.

My Story

I began playing didgeridoo in the year 2000 after finding out my mother was ill with Hepatitis C and would need a liver transplant immediately. For many months I watched my mother go through great pain due to her condition. One night I was listening to a public radio program called “Hearts of Space,” when I heard Steve Roach’s album “Soma” being played which featured the didgeridoo. It was then I heard the instrument for the first time and knew I had to learn all about it. I remember purchasing this album, opening it up and instantly seeing the words in bold print “Music is Medicine.”
